2022-2023 Sankofa Outreach

Students hosted Eastside High School when they toured UF with the Sankofa Digital Initiative in November. Members performed community outreach with the Christmas Toy Drive and Game Giveaway for Caring and Sharing Learning Center, a local charter school. They set up collection boxes across campus and in the AFA office. Members and students from the larger university were encouraged to donate toys. They also used a portion of their budget to purchase board games for the classrooms at the school.

The spring semester found Sankofa members promoting collaboration on campus. To that end, the Society teamed up with the Center for the Humanities and Public Sphere to present a panel entitled “Humanities at Work” during Black History Month. This event was well attended and exposed students from various disciplines to local professionals with degrees in Humanities.
