The society is a student-led organization of African American Studies majors, minors, and enthusiasts who are committed to supporting the AFA program, exposing students to professional development opportunities, connecting students to AFA alumni, and bridging the gap between the university and the larger Gainesville community.

Sankofa Society’s inaugural General Body meeting took place on Wednesday, January 12th at 5:30 P.M. in the AFA Conference Room (TUR1012).

SAFAS has a standing meeting on the second Wednesday of each month of the semester.
