The African American Studies program would like to thank the Zeta Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. who donated $50,000 to the African American Studies Program endowment during the African American Studies 2024 Convocation. Convocation is annual open house event hosted by African American Studies aimed at exposing the UF community, Gainesville, and new students to the AFAM faculty, our courses, and scholarship opportunities available. The Kappas generous donation will provide two $1,000 scholarships annually for students participating in the AFAM Study abroad program. Currently, African American Studies hosts two Study Abroad opportunities, African American in Paris hosted by Dr. Sharon Austin and AFAM in Ghana hosted by Dr. Riché J. Daniel Barnes .
