Dr. Patricia Hiliard-Nunn Visiting Professor, AFAM
Dr. J.E. Young is the Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Nunn Visiting Professor in African American Studies. Dr. Young’s work looks at twentieth and twenty-first century intellectual histories embedded in Afro-American communicative culture movements over generations. They research how Black feminism and Indigenous knowledge systems embedded in communications such as religion, poetry, and music relate to changing media and the long history of anti-black disinformation—as well as what this relationship can contribute to digital humanities.
