The African American Studies program is proud to announce the publication of “The Return to Black Nationalism and the Death of White Supremacy” by Dr. Vincent Adejumo. The work explores Black nationalism’s dynamic history and its current impact in 21st century America.

Dr. Adejumo is a senior lecturer in AFA where he teaches courses that include Black masculinity and The Wire.

Decolonizing Representations to Evoke the Complexity of Black Lives in Florida,” examines the role of art in creating effective teaching for an array of students. AFA’s own, Dr. Rik Stevenson contributed to this exciting and innovating article.

Faculty Awards

Congratulations to Dr. Rik Stevenson for being the recipient of the Education Equalizers Award. This award is given for his outstanding commitment to education, mentorship and community impact. Dr. Stevenson will be honored on April 19th, 2025 at the Million Dollar Scholar Brunch, hosted by the Education Equalizers Foundation.
