Race, History, and Political Participation in America

Two UF professors, Dr. Paul Ortiz and Dr. Sharon Austin, will discuss their groundbreaking books on race, history and politics on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Pugh Hall Ocora, with a book sale following the public talk.

Their recently released publications – 1)The Caribbeanization of Black Politics: Race, Group Consciousness, and Political Participation in America and 2) An African American and Latinx History of the United States, examine the impact, struggles and development of minority politics in America.

The program is free and open to the public and will be streamed live on the Bob Graham Center Facebook page. Reserved parking is available in the gated infirmary lot — south of the infirmary and west of the Bryant Space Science Center on Fletcher Drive.
